I'm testing my Galaxy S4 and set it to run on all 4 cores... we'll see...

Anything is better than nothing, though. I'd still like to see some benchmarks.

WUs on my Nexus 7 3G run ~5 time longer than on my good old AMD Phenom 9650 (~30-40 minutes per WU)... Derpytongue2

Nexus 7:
Code:
CPU Time / Elapsed Time (hours)
3.26 / 3.73
3.24 / 3.40
3.46 / 3.55
2.63 / 2.66

3.17 / 3.19
2.94 / 3.13
2.87 / 2.88

AMD Phenom:
Code:
CPU Time / Elapsed Time (hours)
0.53 / 0.55
0.48 / 0.50
0.52 / 0.53
0.59 / 0.61
0.83 / 0.85
0.91 / 0.93

RE: WCG General Discussion
Well the first major problem that I see is that if a unit gets killed by the OS (i.e. low memory) it reports the unit back as-is (it doesn't try and resume it), meaning that I wound up with 6 pages of submitted units that errored out, each one having run for less than 10 minutes.

Note to self: Make sure the app is in the foreground while charging or it won't function.

Or, y'know, don't let your OS kill important tasks?

I didn't encounter that issue, did you make sure that the settings are configured so as to give BOINC high priority?

The OS (for obvious reasons) considers the foreground task as the most important, my phone only has 512mb of RAM, so that doesn't go far when running several tasks at once. I've since enabled memory compression which should help with that problem.

EDIT: Yeah, I'm probably not going to bother, currently my top 5 units by execution time:

RE: WCG General Discussion
Okay, got the statistics for the Galaxy S4. It returned 3 tasks running on one core each (on a quad-core processor) in roughly 2:30:00 each. That means that you could theoretically complete around 38 tasks a day.

These tasks returned an average of 44 BOINC points (that is, 308 WCG points) each.

The Galaxy S4 can therefore pull approximately 1.7k points per day (or slightly over 10k PPD using WCG stats).

That's actually a really really decent amount, so I urge anyone with a decent-powered phone to run this, it actually is worth it.

Cameron, 4 of those 5 WUs errored, and the fifth hasn't actually granted credit yet. I sometimes see a claimed credit of 2, and a granted credit of 800, so I'd hold out for some actual data before making a decision at the moment.

Hmm, that's more than I would have expected. Not a bad amount, if you think about how many phones just sit there with untapped power.

Actually there are now 9 pages of error'd WUs (The rest having less than 0.06 hours computation time before getting killed). It really needs to determine the reason that the processing stopped and resume it if it was killed by the system.

Does anypony use Android 4.3? Recently all of my computed WUs became "Invalid" after validation and I've a feeling, that upgrade to the newest version of the OS is the reason... Pinkiesick

I'm running on 4.3, I've not had any units that completed successfully end up with an invalid result yet.

Well, at least, looks like I'm not alone: See the "Android Phone Appears to Produce "Invalid" Results 2 Out of 3 Times" thread on WCG forums Ajbemused

Does anyone else have problems with the Clean Energy Project not saving its progress?
Sometimes I end up having to abort WUs from this project as there isn't much chance of me completing a 24 hour unit in one session.
This problem doesn't normally happen but after aborting the last 2 units, it has made me wonder what the problem is :S

EDIT:
I'm suffering this with every unit from this project now, so I've removed it from my projects list.
No point wasting CPU time on units that don't save.

It saves, but it does it in a very special manner: it has fewer checkpoints, than any other project. It happens like this: you start the app and it makes some checkpoints, until ~0:20:00-0:30:00 (h:m:s), then it starts some massive calculations and doesn't make any checkpoints until ~7:20:00-8:00:00 then it starts next part calculations of the WU and makes next checkpoint somewhere around ~10:00:00-10:20:00. And finally, if your computer isn't powerful enough (like, mine) the task will be finished(terminated?) at 12:00:00 and it will upload performed computations.

So, if you can't keep it run on your computer for 8 hours in a row every day, than I wouldn't recommend it (for example, if you run a WU for 6 hours and then quiting the app - you will start from the checkpoint with 20-30 minutes).

Edit: explanation on the WCG forum

Strange I used to be able to complete these WUs before but not now :S
Well, I've removed it from my projects list anyway.
Now I'm getting loads of FightAIDS@Home.

Thanks for the info xplt.
